Katelyn has been involved in CYSA for 13 years. She is also involved in Track and Field and has been voted the hurdle captain by her teammates, making it to the section meet while competing to go to state. Katelyn also plays basketball to push her athletic abilities. She is involved at school, leading as secretary on the Senior Executive Board. When asked how participating in soccer will help in the future, Katelyn added, "Playing the goalkeeper role has helped me develop a voice on and off of the field. In my 8th grade season, I made the JV team as a backup goalie. I was a small, quiet kid and had a thin shell. Moving on throughout the years I had to move past obstacles and create a huge
leadership role from the back of the field. In my senior season, I had a really young backline, which tested my ability to lift others up in a time of need, and tested my overall persistence.
Playing with Cloquet Soccer for many years has helped me develop into the girl I am today. I am forever grateful for all of the coaches and friends I have had over the years. These relationships have allowed me to break out of my shell and develop a voice I didn’t know I had. This allows
many opportunities for me to come into my collegiate career. I will be able to vocalize and create bonds way more easily than before. Thank you Cloquet Soccer, I am forever grateful for everything."
Katelyn is planning on attending Gustavus Adolphus College, to continue with both soccer and education.

Peter Tomhave of Cloquet, Minnesota is a 2019 graduate of Cloquet High School and will be attending college in Maine. Peter says playing soccer has taught him three basic lessons. One, never take anything for granted. Embrace every moment and tackle every day with the same commitment and gusto. Two, winning is not everything. Winning should be a goal, but the best times were when the team “meshed cohesively and everyone got along.” Three, surround yourself with people who care most about you and who you care most about. Being with your teammates on the bus, in a hotel, or on the field for countless practices, you learn a teammate will always have your back. Peter also participated in many other school-sponsored activities and demonstrated strong academics with a 4.2 GPA.
